Jasmine, a single mother and U.S. Army veteran, was on the brink of homelessness. With an eviction notice looming and no support, she faced an impossible choice—until NVHS stepped in.
While some veterans have a strong support system, others find themselves facing eviction, utility shut-offs, and even homelessness. National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) aims to eliminate veteran homelessness in Central Florida by providing direct outreach, housing assistance, and emergency financial support.
Jasmine’s story is a powerful example of how a single support act can make all the difference. In her own words, NVHS provided her with the lifeline she needed when she had nowhere else to turn. This story is just one of many. Thousands of veterans are still facing eviction, financial hardship, and homelessness—but you can help change that.

Jasmine’s Story: A Single Mother on the Brink of Homelessness
Jasmine, a United States Army veteran, was facing one of the most difficult times of her life. Pregnant, raising a young son on her own, and struggling to keep up with rent and utility bills, she found herself at risk of eviction and losing necessities.
She had exhausted her options, and stress and anxiety were taking a toll on her mental and emotional well-being. The uncertainty of not knowing whether she would have a safe place for her children left her overwhelmed, exhausted, and desperate for help.
How NVHS Stepped In
Jasmine’s VA caseworker referred her to NVHS, where she was immediately connected to financial assistance, housing support, and critical resources to keep her from becoming homeless.
Through NVHS, Jasmine received:
- Immediate financial assistance to cover past-due rent and utility bills, preventing eviction and service disconnections.
- A compassionate support system that reassured her she was not alone in her struggles.
- Guidance on long-term stability, allowing her to regain control of her financial situation.
We responded quickly, ensuring that Jasmine and her children had a safe and stable home, preventing them from joining the thousands of veterans who experience homelessness each year.
A Future Filled with Hope
With the support of NVHS, Jasmine’s situation completely turned around. The financial relief and emotional support she received allowed her to focus on rebuilding her life, and she is now in a much better place.
- She can manage her bills without the overwhelming burden of debt.
- She has enrolled in school, taking steps toward a brighter future for her family.
- She stays in touch with us, knowing she has a strong support system behind her.
“Thank you for everything. Without you, I would have been facing a way worse hardship than what I was going through. Being a single parent with a son and a baby on the way, being homeless was not an option. NVHS helped me super fast, and I am so thankful for everything they did for me.” – Jasmine
