Endorsements That Matter: What These Leaders Know About NVHS That You Should Too
When a local organization gets recognition from public officials, it’s easy to glance past it as routine praise. However, when endorsements are consistent, passionate, and grounded in genuine partnership, that’s something different.
At National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS), every endorsement we receive isn’t just a quote; it’s a reflection of action. It’s the result of years spent in the field with our local leaders, responding to crises, building trust, and helping veterans who’ve fallen through the cracks. These leaders have witnessed firsthand the impact NVHS has in Central Florida.
Their words and support matter to the mission, and yours can, too! Explore ways you can support and stand with veterans today.
“Their Dedication Embodies the Spirit of Public Service”
— Rachel Sadoff, Brevard Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller
“As Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, I am honored to support NVHS and their mission to end veteran homelessness. Their dedication to serving those who once served us embodies the spirit of public service and community that our office strives to uphold every day.”
Rachel Sadoff’s words reflect something we hold dear at NVHS: that service doesn’t end with military discharge.
We work with agencies across Brevard to ensure that veterans receive not just emergency support but also long-term stability through programs such as HUD-VASH, and VA healthcare and benefit navigation.
Take Kenneth, an 81-year-old Army veteran living on just $900 a month in Social Security. When he faced the loss of his home, NVHS stepped in to cover his rent and provide food and essentials. Behind the scenes, we also collaborated with a partner agency to assist him in applying for VA benefits and securing a much-needed increase in food assistance. Thanks to these efforts, Mr. Kenneth now receives a VA pension and can remain safely and independently housed.
This is the kind of public service that occurs when local systems and nonprofits collaborate with the veteran at the center.
“NVHS Leads the Way in Our Community”
— Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office
“Over the course of the past twelve years, members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office have worked closely with the NVHS team to assist some of our military heroes that have found themselves in troubled times! Regardless if it’s rescuing veterans from homeless camps or organizing stand-downs to make sure they have the needed supplies, NVHS leads the way in our community in helping veterans and their families!! It is an honor to partner with NVHS as they protect our military heroes!”
Sheriff Wayne Ivey doesn’t speak in hypotheticals; his team has been in the field with us.
They’ve joined our outreach teams in locating veterans living deep in the woods or in vehicles across Brevard County. They’ve witnessed the care with which we approach each situation, treating every veteran with dignity, no matter how long they’ve been disconnected from services.
When law enforcement and nonprofits collaborate, lives can change more quickly. It’s not just about getting veterans off the streets; it’s about surrounding them with a community that believes in their ability to heal and rebuild.
“A Blessing to Honor These Heroes”
— Tim Bobanic, Brevard Supervisor of Elections
“It is an honor to support NVHS, an organization that prioritizes the men and women of our Armed Forces, who have so bravely served our country. Having the ability to give back and honor the sacrifices of these American heroes is a true blessing.”
Tim Bobanic’s statement highlights the essence of why NVHS exists. We don’t just serve veterans; we honor them by ensuring they don’t fall through the cracks. We recognize that every homeless veteran represents a promise that’s gone unfulfilled.
In 2024 alone, our Search and Rescue Program assisted 373 veterans and 123 family members, preventing homelessness for 102 veteran families through hands-on outreach and resource coordination.

“NVHS Has Made an Incredible Impact”
— Lisa Cullen, Brevard Tax Collector
“NVHS has made an incredible impact in our community and continues to do so each and every day. It is an honor to assist this organization and give back to those that served our great nation.”
Lisa Cullen’s words speak to consistency. It’s not enough to show up once.
Housing a veteran isn’t the finish line; it’s just the beginning. And community leaders like Cullen understand that real change takes steady, sustained support. That’s how impact happens, not overnight, but day after day. Learn more about what it takes to help a homeless veteran off the streets.
“A Beautiful Way to Honor Those Who’ve Served”
— Dana Blickley, Brevard County Property Appraiser and NVHS Board Member
“Although NVHS has a primary mission – the elimination of homelessness among veterans in Central Florida – the pursuit of success has become a way of life for myself and my family. The opportunity to be a part of such important and impactful objectives has been a great honor and a beautiful way for me to serve my country and honor those who have selflessly served our great nation.”
Dana Blickley doesn’t just endorse NVHS. She’s part of our team. As a board member, she’s involved in the planning, problem-solving, and growth that make our work possible.
Her family’s involvement reflects something we see in many of our supporters: when one person commits to helping veterans, their whole family often joins the mission.
Endorsements That Speak from Experience
Endorsements from trusted local leaders do more than add credibility. They validate our service model. They tell the public: “We’ve seen this group work. We trust them. You can, too.”
And when those endorsements come from leaders across different branches of local government, from law enforcement to courts to taxation, they reflect the community-wide importance of veteran stability.
These leaders are saying that supporting NVHS is supporting Brevard.
