by John A. Torres Florida Today When 18th Circuit Chief Judge Lisa Davidson started up a Pro Bono Legal Clinic for Brevard County's veterans this time last year, there was no way she could know how badly it would be needed. But 2020 has been a year of firsts for many. The unrelenting pandemic that has claimed more than 200,000 American lives and upended the economy has been harsh on everyone but especially so on the disenfranchised or those living on the fringes, which include many veterans. Now Davidson is [...]

Humble humanitarian Taylor will be missed in community
BY R. NORMAN MOODY Published: 2020.06.01 09:24 AM It is rare to find someone that is totally dedicated to helping others in need, without looking for anything in return. That rare, humble humanitarian was George Taylor Sr., a man who made it his mission and his passion to eliminate homelessness among military veterans in Central Florida. He would do anything for a fellow veteran. Always wearing his signature black cowboy hat, jeans and often a western-style shirt, he would go into the woods to where he knew he would [...]
Loss of George Taylor Sr, President/Founder of NVHS
Dear Supporters, Yesterday, May 17, 2020 my father and the Founder and President of NVHS passed away at Advent Health Hospital in Orlando. The medical staff there was wonderful and worked tirelessly to try to save him following a heart attack last Thursday, but unfortunately he was too sick. Words can not describe the impact his sudden and unexpected loss will have on this organization, his family, his friends, and the hundreds of veterans he helped off the streets and into homes of their own over his 12 years as [...]

Volunteer Recognition- Bill Breyer
One of our very own volunteers, Bill Breyer, has been recognized in the Senior Life section of the Viera Voice for outstanding efforts and results in helping us work to end veteran homelessness in Brevard! "Bill Breyer likes to hang around local church food pantries. No, he is not caging for some free food, but rather he is there to help the homeless veterans who often visit these facilities when meals are scarce. “You know they’re in bad shape,” said Breyer, who is a team member of the National Homeless [...]
