When veterans come through our doors, they deserve a safe, secure place to find the support they need. After severe rains damaged our Cocoa office last fall, water intrusion and mold threatened the building where we connect veterans with housing assistance, supportive services, and critical resources. Without significant repairs, the damage puts our ability to continue serving the community from a healthy, reliable facility at risk.
Thanks to a $30,000 grant through QXO’s Annual Grant Program, secured by Eagle Roofing & Construction on behalf of NVHS, our Cocoa facility is receiving a much-needed roof replacement. This investment protects the building and helps ensure we can continue serving veterans in a safe environment for years to come.
Why the Roof Replacement Was Necessary
The storms caused more than visible damage. Water intrusion created ongoing moisture issues, increasing the risk of mold and threatening the long-term integrity of the building.
After a comprehensive inspection, Eagle Roofing & Construction determined that replacing the roof was the most effective long-term solution. A new roof addresses the source of the problem and helps protect the facility from future weather-related damage.
A safe, well-maintained building lets us focus on what matters most: providing consistent support to veterans who need it.
How the Project Came Together
Identifying the Opportunity
In late 2025, Mary Jane Locklear, Director of Operations at Eagle Roofing & Construction, completed a comprehensive inspection of our Cocoa facility after the storm. Her assessment confirmed that a full roof replacement was necessary to protect the building and preserve the space where veterans receive services.
That same week, QXO announced its Annual Grant Program. Mary Jane recognized an opportunity to help and applied for the grant on behalf of NVHS, highlighting the condition of the facility and the importance of maintaining a safe place for veterans seeking assistance.
Her efforts resulted in NVHS receiving a $30,000 grant through QXO. Eagle Roofing & Construction was selected to complete the reroofing project.
Community Partners Making a Difference
This project shows what is possible when businesses invest in their communities.
QXO provided the grant funding that enabled the roof replacement. Eagle Roofing & Construction identified the need, pursued the funding opportunity, and is completing the work. Fletcher’s Hauling also donated the dumpster needed for construction, helping advance the project.
Each partner played an important role in restoring a facility that serves veterans throughout Brevard County.

Protecting the Place Where We Serve Veterans
Our Cocoa office serves as an important access point for veterans seeking housing support and other essential services. Protecting this building means protecting the place where people begin rebuilding stability in their lives.
The new roof resolves damage caused by last year’s flooding, addresses moisture and mold concerns, and strengthens the building against future storms. It also provides veterans, staff, volunteers, and community partners with a safe, dependable, and ready-to-serve facility.
Facility improvements may happen behind the scenes, but they directly affect every veteran who comes through our doors.
Thank You to the Partners Who Made It Possible
We are grateful to QXO for investing in organizations that strengthen their communities through the Annual Grant Program.
We also sincerely thank Mary Jane Locklear and the entire team at Eagle Roofing & Construction. From identifying the need during the initial inspection to applying for the grant on behalf of NVHS and completing the roofing project, their commitment went well beyond construction.
We also appreciate Fletcher’s Hauling for donating dumpster services that helped make the project possible. Their contribution reflects the power of local businesses coming together to support meaningful community work.
Looking Ahead
Replacing the roof is an important step in restoring our Cocoa facility after last year’s storm. By addressing water intrusion and mold concerns now, we are protecting the building that supports our mission and ensuring veterans continue to have a safe, welcoming place to seek help.
We are grateful to QXO, Eagle Roofing & Construction, Fletcher’s Hauling, and every partner who helped make this project possible. Their support strengthens more than a building. It strengthens our ability to continue serving veterans throughout Brevard County.
