We are thrilled to share the success of our 6th Annual Homestretch 5K for Brevard’s At-Risk and Homeless Veterans, which took place on November 12, 2023 in Eau Gallie Square. This fun and meaningful event attracted 331 runners who showed their support for our mission to eliminate homelessness among veterans in Central Florida.

We are grateful to our generous sponsors who made this event possible. We would like to thank our Gold Sponsors: Pineapples in the Eau Gallie Art District, who provided free breakfast buffet for the veterans who attended and a discounted breakfast for the non-veterans, Pirtek, The Viera Company, and Grills Seafood and Riverfront Tiki Bar, who provided free beer to all the participants. We also appreciate our Silver Sponsors: Seacoast Bank, Denovo Realty, Launch Credit Union, and Mike Erdman Nissan. And we can’t forget our Bronze Sponsors: Space Coast Credit Union, VFW Post 8191, CBRE, Island Direct Primary Care, American Legion Post 81, and Launch Pad Golf Club. We also want to give a special thanks to Running Zone for managing the race, they did an excellent job.

We were honored to have Tim Bobanic, the Brevard Supervisor of Elections, lead the Pledge of Allegiance before the race, and Chip Hansen, the Chaplain of DAV Chapter 123, give the invocation. We also want to recognize the winners of the race, who received medals. Congratulations to the overall male and female winners, Alan Nedley and Melissa Emmerich, and the team winners, Team L3Harris.

We also want to thank all of our volunteers, who helped us with the registration, water stations, course marshaling, and cleanup. A special shout out to the teams of volunteers that came from The Adleaf Marketing Agency and Community Credit Union, who showed their dedication and enthusiasm for our cause. We also want to acknowledge Rock Paper Simple for donating the development of the event flyers and graphics for the 6th year in a row!

We are proud of the impact that this event has on our community and our veterans. The funds raised from this event will help us provide street level outreach, homelessness prevention, and supportive services for homeless, at-risk, and low-income veterans and their families. We are committed to making a difference in the lives of those who served our country and deserve our respect and gratitude.

We also want to congratulate the 28 runners who completed the DASH Home Challenge, a partnership with St. Francis Reflections Foundation. They ran both the DASH 5K on November 11th and the Home Stretch 5K on November 12th and received an extra special challenge medal. They supported both the ongoing special projects for and care of veterans through palliative and hospice care, as well as homeless veteran housing, and homelessness prevention of at-risk veteran families in Brevard County.

Thank you for your support and participation in the 6th Annual Homestretch 5K. We hope to see you again next year for another great race. For more information about our programs and events, please follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn. Together, we can end veteran homelessness in Central Florida.
