Veterans and Housing
Veterans and Housing Lack of affordable housing is one of major causes that has contributed to a rise in homelessness over the last two and a half decades. Unfortunately, research has shown that veterans are among the groups most at-risk of homelessness. In fact, 13% of homeless adults are veterans, and according to estimates by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, on any given night, over 40,000 veterans are homeless. Thanks to veterans' housing assistance programs, these statistics represent a significant decrease (about 50%) from 2009—however, they're still [...]

Benefits for burn pit victims could expand dramatically in 2022.
Veterans advocates saw significant progress in 2021 in the fight to improve care and benefits for victims of burn pit smoke, but they’re hoping for even more in 2022. Veterans and Social Isolation
Veterans and Social Isolation For many people, the COVID-19 pandemic has had the effect of bringing renewed attention to the connection between social isolation and mental health. After all, humans are social creatures—deprived of our normal social interactions and support systems, it's no wonder that many of us experienced higher levels of depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. For the veteran community, however, the chicken-and-egg problem of social isolation and poor mental health has been a longstanding issue—and one that has been linked to the worrying rates of homelessness among veterans. [...]
Veterans and PTSD
Veterans and PTSD PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a serious problem for veterans. Recent veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are affected by PTSD at the rate of 11-20%, and for Vietnam veterans, the estimates are even higher. As a result, research, treatment options, and social support services for PTSD have ballooned in recent decades. Yet, in spite of this progress, we have a long way to go in addressing the long-term effects of PTSD on the lives of veterans. Defining PTSD Although PTSD is commonly associated with veterans [...]

Join in on our mission to help eliminate homelessness and suffering among our veterans. Our struggling veterans can be helped, and should be for all they have done for us. There are roughly 70,000 veterans in Brevard County alone, making up 11% of the population. Over 4,000 of those veterans are at-risk of homelessness, and a VA home loan can help. The knowledge of this resource such as the VA home loan is an additional benefit that can truly aid in turning struggling veterans' lives around. The Department of Veterans [...]
