Workplace Volunteering: Engage Your Employees in Giving Back
Many businesses recognize the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) but struggle to find hands-on, meaningful ways for employees to get involved. Employees want more than just writing a check—they want purpose-driven engagement that allows them to see and feel the impact of their efforts. At National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS), we offer workplace volunteering opportunities that connect businesses with hands-on initiatives to support homeless and at-risk veterans.
Veterans have served our country with dedication and sacrifice, yet many struggle with homelessness, financial instability, and limited access to essential resources. Partner with us today, turn your company into a force for change and foster a stronger, more engaged workforce.

The Need: Why Your Support Matters
Veteran homelessness is a pressing issue in Central Florida, with many veterans facing housing insecurity, unemployment, and financial hardship. Many who served our country now struggle to find stable housing, mental health resources, and career opportunities after transitioning to civilian life.
Through volunteer-driven programs, NVHS provides:
- Search & Rescue outreach to locate and assist homeless veterans.
- Emergency housing assistance to prevent eviction and homelessness.
- Food, hygiene kits, and survival essentials for veterans in crisis.
- Support services to connect veterans with jobs, mental health care, and VA benefits.
Your company’s involvement helps bridge the gap, ensuring veterans receive the necessary resources to rebuild their lives.
Corporate Volunteering Opportunities with NVHS
We offer corporate volunteering opportunities that strengthen teams, build community connections, and support veterans in need.
Plan a Corporate Volunteer Day
Looking for a hands-on way to engage your employees? Corporate volunteer days allow your team to work directly with veterans and support NVHS programs.
Opportunities include:
- Meal Prep & Distribution: Help prepare and serve meals to homeless veterans.
- Search & Rescue Outreach: Join our team in providing essential supplies to veterans living on the streets.
- Seasonal Initiatives: Assist with Thanksgiving meal distribution, holiday gift drives, and winter survival kit assembly.
- Community Cleanups: Help with our highway cleanups.
By planning a corporate volunteer day, employees experience the direct impact of their work, making corporate volunteer days both fulfilling and team-building.
Team-Building with Purpose: Group Volunteer Activities
Strengthen your team’s collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills while making a real difference. NVHS offers customized group volunteer activities that unite your employees for a shared mission.
Popular Group Activities:
- Care Package Assembly: Pack hygiene kits and food supplies for needy veterans.
- Fundraising & Awareness Campaigns: Organize an employee-led fundraising event to support NVHS programs.
- Corporate Donation Drives: Collect much-needed clothing, hygiene products, and food.
This encourages teamwork, leadership development, and community engagement.
Some companies donate money based on the hours their employees volunteer. By volunteering with NVHS, your employer may contribute financially to support our programs.
How to Participate:
- If your company offers volunteer grants, track your volunteering hours with NVHS.
- Submit the necessary documentation to your employer—most companies provide a simple form or online portal.
- Your company donates to NVHS based on the time you contributed to us to expand our veteran support programs.
Employer-Matched Giving: Double the Impact
One of the easiest ways for companies to increase their impact is through employer-matched giving programs. Many companies offer donation matching, where they match employee contributions dollar for dollar.
How It Works:
- Employees donate to NVHS through payroll deductions or one-time gifts.
- Your company matches the donation, doubling the impact.
- NVHS uses the funds to provide veterans housing, food, and emergency services.
Why It’s Great for Your Business:
- Boosts employee morale by making their contributions go further.
- Demonstrates corporate social responsibility in a tangible way.
- Helps support vital programs without requiring additional employee time.
Seasonal & Special Event Volunteering
Support veterans year-round by participating in NVHS seasonal initiatives and special fundraising events.
Opportunities Include:
- Thanksgiving & Holiday Gift Distributions: Provide meals and gifts to veterans during the holidays.
- Home Stretch 5K for Homeless Veterans: Sponsor, volunteer, or form a company race team to support NVHS’s mission.
- NVHS Annual Golf Tournament: Engage employees and clients in a meaningful fundraising event while networking with business leaders.
Seasonal events offer easy, impactful ways for businesses to engage employees in giving back while boosting brand visibility.

The Power of Volunteering: A Personal Perspective
Volunteers are the heart of NVHS, dedicating their time and energy to changing the lives of veterans in need. Whether they provide meals, deliver furniture, or offer a listening ear, our volunteers make a real and lasting impact.
Dave, a dedicated NVHS volunteer of 15 years, shares his experience:
“I would have to say that there is a great sense of pride and joy to be able to help those who are down on their luck. Some want the help, and others just want something to help them survive and go back to their world. All are at different levels, trying to navigate through life. I have moved furniture and many items to housing for them, only to find out they can’t be closed in, especially if they have been in the woods for a while. But I haven’t given up on them—sometimes they just need a different spot to rest! I have been driving the van so long that I can’t remember when I started, but all in all, it’s been a fruitful journey! I don’t see myself quitting until I can’t physically do this anymore.”
Dave’s story is a testament to the power of persistence, compassion, and understanding. Every volunteer plays a role in helping veterans find stability, dignity, and hope.
