Generous grants help NVHS continue assisting homeless veterans

Two organizations recently recognized the valuable work of the National Veterans Homeless Support when they presented NVHS with grants to help it continue its work caring for homeless veterans and veterans on the verge of homelessness.

Rotary Club of Indialantic recently presented NVHS with a check for $10,000. The club sponsored a fundraising event at the American Muscle Car Museum to raise the money presented to NVHS.

The Rotary Club of Indialantic formed the Military and Veterans Outreach Committee, which has several members who are veterans. The committee works to find the best ways to be of service to veterans and assist veteran support groups. The club members said that upon discovering the National Veterans Homeless Support, a bond of trust and commitment was spawned.

“We know NVHS is making a significant difference in the lives of veterans in need and would wholeheartedly encourage other organizations to support this effort as well,” said retired Army Col. Dan Layton, chairman of the Rotary Club’s Military and Veterans Outreach Committee.

Indian River Colony Club Foundation also acknowledged the work of NVHS and presented the organization with a $3,000 grant.

“Members of our IRCC Foundation have firsthand knowledge of the effectiveness of NVHS and the entire foundation board was impressed with NVHS,” the foundation leaders said. “We reviewed the NVHS’ financial information and noted Charity Navigator gave them a Four-Star rating. Our due diligence showed us NVHS is an effective and well managed organization, and we were proud to award them a $3,000 grant.   NVHS tackles homelessness directly and they have a network of community partners to meet the needs of veterans in the area.  IRCC’s donation will go directly to support homeless or low-income veterans and their families in critical need in Brevard County.”

Indian River Colony Club is a Viera community largely comprised of military veterans.

National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) exists to “Eliminate Homelessness Among Veterans in Central Florida.” Since 2008, NVHS has located and assisted homeless veterans get off the streets and prevented veterans at-risk of homelessness from becoming homeless in the first place.
